Bruxism is subconscious grinding and clenching of teeth. In contrast to people withouth Bruxism, the force and pressure of chewing and biting is ten times greater. This leads to various types of damage to the teeth like for instance biting damage or even the destruction of the gums surrounding the teeth.
The symptoms of bruxism are unnoticed for a long time, and as a result they are ignored by patients. They start to seek help only when they can't cope with the relentless pain anymore. Bruxism often causes cracking of the dental glaze, tooth splitting in the jaw, tooth crown grinding, and inflammation that brings changes to the temporomandibular joints.
The main direct cause of this condition is too much activity in the muscle tone. Causes can be local and systemic. Mainly blamed for these stress bites and responsible can also be badly shaped surfaces, crowns, improperly filled fillings and gaps in the teeth.
One way to treat bruxism is to apply a special rails relaxing and not allowing spontaneous clenching of the teeth. The most important task during therapy is to limit too much activity of the rumen muscles, resulting in the cessation of the subconscious grinding processes. You can also reduce protruding points on teeth that can cause uneven biting. It is also very important to minimize stress, which is considered the main culprit. It will be helpful to listen to music, read books, walks and long baths.
