Sandblasting is a hygienic treatment that is aimed at the removal of plaque aswell as surface discoloration. Plaque is a brownish sediment that is formed from food residues, dead cells from the saliva and other bacteria in the mouth. Non-deletion of this precipitate weakens the coating and consequently causes decay. Large amounts of plaque turn into plaque which can't be removed and causes periodontal disease. Regularly visits to the dentist can prevent this provide a beautiful and healthy smile.
The treatment is carried out with a dental grinder, which uses water under very high pressure. Sodium hydrogen carbonates are added to it, which are the cleaning particles that can reach the toughest spots. An aspirator is inserted into the patient's mouth wich collects the powder that accumulates in the mouth during the treatment. Later the dentist applies fluoridation. It lasts about 30 minutes and is completely painless. Sometimes, some patients experience mild discomfort which is caused by the irritated gums they allready have caused by plaque.
Untill at least 48 hours after the treatment, you should not be smoking cigarettes or drink coffee, tea and red wine. This reduces the risk of discoloration. Patient should also follow a so called "white diet. " To enjoy the effects of the treatment as long as possible remember to follow the rules of everyday oral hygiene: use a thread, dental and oral fluids, and also brush your teeth at least two times per day.
